Former Senate Minority Whip, Senator Chukwuka Utazi, has reaffirmed his support to the leadership of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) and President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking at a thanksgiving service over the weekend to mark the end of his eight years in the Senate representing Enugu North Senatorial Zone between 2015 and 2023, Senator Utazi said God used him to serve the people of the district.
Senator Utazi said: “When I was given the mandate to represent Igbo-Nsukka at the Senate, I didn’t get it as the richest person, most intelligent one, most connected one from Igbo-Nsukka but because God says I should go and represent my people, and he therefore used the former Governor Sullivan Chime to actualized it.
“It is also true that I organized a Thanksgiving Church service in honour of my election victory in my first term at our Parish, Sacred Heart, when I was going to the Senate.
“Today I decided to do it again here to thank God for his guidance for the past 8 years as Senator.
“I am also using this ceremony to reaffirm my total support to All Progressive Congress, (APC), and the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.”
On his part, Senator Obinna Ogba of Ebonyi State described Senator Utazi as a man of destiny and full of trust in God, praying for God to continue to lift him higher.
He recalled that he nearly quarrelled with Senator Utazi in his first term, “In his first term, Senator Utazi told me that he was organising a thanksgiving service, which I asked him whether he had settled with his litigations in the court against his election before a thanksgiving service but Senator Utazi told me that the battle is for the Lord’s”.
In the homily at Theresa’s Catholic Church, Ogba Nkpologu, Rev. Fr. Donatus Onah, thanked Senator Utazi for allowing God to take precedence in his life both in public and private services.
He appealed for many to emulate Senator Utazi’s actions in putting God first.
The Thanksgiving church service witnessed many personalities across political lines and cultural dance.
