  1. Chicago State University (CSU) has stated that it does not possess the certificate presented by President Bola Tinubu to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the 2023 general election. Caleb Westberg, the registrar of the university, made this statement while providing an oral deposition regarding the release of Tinubu’s academic records to his political rival, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday.
  2. The Senate has officially approved the nominations of Balarabe Abbas Lawal (Kaduna), Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim (Kwara), and Ayodele Olawande (Ondo) as ministers. A majority of senators supported their confirmation in a voice vote immediately following their screening process during Wednesday’s plenary session.
  3. A 30-year-old man named Ayobami Oyeleye is currently in the custody of the Ogun State Police Command for using a machete to sever his mother’s hands. The suspect also inflicted a deep wound on the woman’s head. Oyeleye allegedly attacked his 65-year-old mother, Esther, on Tuesday during an undisclosed argument in Akibo village, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the State.
  4. Quick-thinking neighbors and the Lagos State Police Command prevented a man (whose name is being withheld) from taking his own life in Igbologun, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of the State. On Wednesday, it was reported that the 34-year-old man was consuming a substance suspected to be an insecticide when a laborer in the neighboring compound spotted him and raised the alarm.
  5. An Akwa Ibom State High Court in Essien Udim Local Government Area has sentenced a pastor, Uduak Umoren, and his brother, Emmanuel, to death for fatally beating Iboro Joe over a piece of land. The 45-year-old farmer and trader, who was visiting his sister-in-law in Adiasim Ikot Ekon, was beaten to death.
  6. Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Olukayode Ariwoola emphasized on Wednesday that only the law and the constitution determine the decisions made by judicial officers. He stated that regardless of public opinion or pressure, judges’ judgments are not influenced. The CJN made these remarks in Abuja while administering the oath of office to 23 new judges of the Federal High Court (FHC).
  7. A five-member delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is in Nigeria to coordinate with Nigerian authorities for the final resumption of commercial flights between the two countries and the issuance of visas to Nigerians. The delegation, consisting of Almannaei Khalid, Janahi Asma, Alshehhu Rasheed, Teo Teck San, and Alhosani Talal, arrived in Nigeria on Sunday.
  8. The Katsina State Police have confirmed the abduction of five female students from the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) by gunmen. The incident took place behind Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial School, Dutsinma. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Abubakar Aliyu, ASP, confirmed the incident.
  9. Music artist Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, and his associate Balogun Eletu, better known as Sam Larry, have been remanded in custody in connection with the death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad. The police invited Naira Marley and Sam Larry, obtaining a remand warrant against them in a Magistrate’s Court in Yaba, Lagos, on Wednesday.
  10. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State, along with its 2023 gubernatorial candidate, Engr. Titus Uba, has appealed the decision of the election petition tribunal that upheld the election of Governor Hyacinth Alia of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
