1. Senate to Screen CBN Leadership and Deputy Governors Nominees:

  • Today, the Senate is set to conduct screening interviews for Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, the acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and four nominees for the positions of CBN Deputy Governors. The outcome will determine their confirmation to lead the apex bank for the next five years.

2. NLC Accuses Government of Delay in Post-Subsidy Palliatives Negotiations:

  • The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has criticized the Federal Government for alleged delays in negotiating post-subsidy palliatives for workers, four months after the fuel subsidy removal. In response, the organized labor has scheduled an emergency National Executive Council meeting for today to decide on their next course of action.

3. President Tinubu’s Request for Limited Release of Academic Records:

  • The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Phrank Shaibu, Special Assistant on Public Communications to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, for his claims of the government using propaganda to deceive Nigerians. Shaibu’s statement, titled ‘The 10 lies of the APC-led federal government,’ targeted President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

10. Search Underway for Kidnapped Benue Commissioner: – The Benue State Police Command has initiated a search operation for the kidnapped State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Matthew Abo. He was abducted on Sunday by gunmen, and the police are working diligently to secure his release.
