1. Vice-President Kashim Shettima, on Saturday, told Nigerians that multicultural diversity of the country should be seen as a source of strength, not division. Shettima said this during the celebration of the 37th edition of the Akesan day held at the Christ Apostolic Grammar School, Iperu-Remo, Ogun State.

2. The Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lokoja has granted counsels to the first applicant in the case of the governorship election petition, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the leave of the court to allow him access to materials and all documents used in the conduct of the November 11 gubernatorial election.

3. Governors from the North-East on Saturday gathered in Yola, Adamawa State capital, for a meeting aimed at addressing the challenges in the region. During the meeting, the chairman of the forum, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno, emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to overcome the daunting challenges in the region.

4. The Abuja-based Baze University, said to be owned by the running mate of Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, has been barred by the Council of Legal Education (CLE) from further admitting students into its Law Faculty for the next five years. The decision by the CLE, DAILY POST learnt, was informed by the university’s alleged consistent abuse of its admission quota for law students.

5. Hamas fighters on Saturday released a second group of 13 Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, freeing for the first time one of the people snatched during their bloody assault on a music festival.

6. Terrorists led by one of their kingpins, Damina, have attacked some villages in Zamfara State, kidnapping over 100 villagers just as 11 persons were killed in Taraba State by suspected bandits. The terrorists stormed Mutunji community, Friday, killing a local and abducting their victims, including women and children.

7. Troops of Operation Haderin Daji in the Northwest zone have neutralized suspected terrorists in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State. A statement issued by the spokesman of OPHD, Captain Yahaya Ibrahim said the troops also rescued kidnapped hostages in Faskari and Batsari Local Government Areas of the State.

8. The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has killed a top Boko Haram terrorists’ leader, Abu Asad and numerous others in air strikes on their stronghold in Tagoshe on the Mandara Mountains in Borno. Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Director, Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force (NAF), said this in a statement, on Saturday in Abuja.

9. Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, on Saturday, expressed optimism that despite the judgment of the Appeal Court sacking him, he will get justice at the Supreme Court. He appealed to the people of the state to remain steadfast and pray for the success of his administration.

10. A fatal accident involving a tanker claimed the life of an unidentified boy at Oke, inward the Gbagada axis of Lagos on Saturday. The tanker driver was rescued by operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA. This was disclosed in a statement by the Public Relations Officer, LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, on Saturday.
