  1. Former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele, has been ordered into Kuje prison by a Federal Capital Territory High Court due to alleged procurement fraud. After three postponed sessions, the trial finally proceeded on Friday.
  2. 26 illegal aliens apprehended in Ayua, near Auchi last week by the Nigeria Police have been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for questioning. The Edo State Police Command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, revealed this in Benin on Friday, mentioning the transfer to the Edo State Command of NIS on November 13, 2023.
  3. Two policemen attached to the Ebonyi State Police Command were reportedly killed by hoodlums in Nwofe, a suburb of Abakaliki metropolis within Izzi Local Government Area. The officers were part of a patrol team conducting surveillance on Friday morning.
  4. Gombe State Police command has paraded four suspects in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Alamin Ahmadu. Investigations unveiled that 25-year-old Ahmadu Ibrahim, an apprentice, orchestrated the kidnapping and killing of his boss’s son.
  5. The leadership of the Social Democratic Party intends to contest the results of the November 11, 2023, Kogi governorship election. Citing significant irregularities in certain voting centers, SDP believes Muritala Ajaka of their party should have won instead of Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress.
  6. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented Certificates of Return to incumbent Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, and the recently elected Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo. All emerged victorious in the November 11 off-cycle governorship elections.
  7. The Court of Appeal in Abuja upheld the annulment of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s election from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) by the state’s election petition tribunal. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress was declared the validly elected governor in the tribunal’s judgment on September 20.
  8. President Bola Tinubu announced the discontinuation of the automatic deduction of 40 percent from federal universities’ Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). This declaration was conveyed by the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, during the University of Ibadan’s (UI) 75th Founders’ Day ceremony.
  9. The new Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, pledged relentless efforts to halt the unlawful imposition of sit-at-home orders disrupting the state’s socio-economic activities. At a conference with the command’s strategic managers, Danjuma assured the restoration of public confidence and safety for lawful activities.
  10. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, expressed no fear in confronting the ousted governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, and his New Nigeria People’s Party at the Supreme Court following their loss at the Court of Appeal. The former governor of Kano commended the judiciary for meeting expectations.
