- In anticipation of the forthcoming governorship elections on November 11 in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states, Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun has issued an order for the distribution of 220 operational vehicles to enhance election security measures. The police force has also deployed anti-riot equipment, including water cannons, Armoured Personnel Carriers, helmets, bulletproof vests, and tear gas canisters.
- The shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, commonly referred to as cooking gas, has impacted Lagos and several other states in Nigeria. States affected by this scarcity include Katsina, Sokoto, Delta, Kaduna, and Kano.
- The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully seized no less than 14,481,519 pills of tramadol and bottles of codeine syrup, with a street value exceeding N13 billion. These drugs were recovered through three significant drug cartel busts in Amuwo Odofin, Idumota, and the SAHCO shed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos State.
- Taraba State Commissioner for Special Duties and Social Development, Saviour Noku, has disclosed that at least 20 bodies were recovered from a boat accident that occurred along the Mayo-Renewo-Karim Lamido Waterway in River Benue on October 28. Noku made this announcement during a condolence visit to the affected families in the Binneri community of the Karim Lamido Local Government Area.
- The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the tragic death of a 39-year-old woman, Lilian Nwarache, who consumed an insecticide on Friday in the Iwaya area of Lagos State. Her act was attributed to frustration stemming from a prolonged illness. Nwarache had been suffering from a protracted illness and was seeking a cure in a church in Iwaya.

- After nearly 17 years of marriage, Kolawole Olanrewaju from Ikire in Osun State has discovered that all four children he believed were his with his wife, Toyin Olanrewaju, are not biologically related to him. A DNA test conducted on the children, aged 16, 12, 8, and 5, at the DDC DNA Diagnostic Centre in Ibadan, Oyo State, returned negative, revealing that he is not their biological father.
- The Village Head of Dan Gulam in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Umar Ibrahim, has been accused of raping and impregnating a woman, identified as Hanatu Yahaya, who subsequently contracted HIV. This revelation was contained in a letter dated October 16, 2023, sent to the Secretary of Dutse Emirate Council, Dutse Emir’s Palace, by Senior State Counsel in Jigawa State Ministry of Justice, Kabiru Abdullah Esq.
