Two signings Juventus want to make in order to change their formation

Juventus will have a pivotal summer transfer window coming up with Thiago Motta fully expected to take over as the new manager of a ship that has been lost at sea for years.

Max Allegri has done little to bring Juventus back to prominence in Italian football, and, if anything, he has made the Bianconeri in worse shape by turning the club’s philosophy into that of a plodding defensive team.

Motta will change that, and most of the positive changes are expected to breathe new life into the midfield and attack. As part of that, Juventus may be tactically changing the foundation of the team in defense.

According to a report from Tuttosport, Juventus are planning on switching from Allegri’s stagnant back three into a back four that could potentially facilitate more attacking options.

To achieve this, Juventus are interested in signing Girona star right back Yan Couto, who is wanted by several major clubs around Europe, in addition to securing a transfer for Motta’s main defensive gem at Bologna, Riccardo Calafiori.

While Calafiori would not start every game due to the presence of Gleison Bremer and Danilo in central defense, Couto would be a slam-dunk starter in his first season and one of the best right backs in European football.

Couto can progress play, create chances, and defend at a high level. That is exactly what Juventus need at right back, and if they want to move to a 4-3-3, Couto’s traits could enable Juve to start a certain left-footed playmaker on loan at Frosinone as an inverted right winger.
