Tuesday racing tips

CHEPSTOW

  • 2.15: Below The Radar 13/2 Each-way (1pt)
  • 2.45: Booster Bob & Cabhfuilfungi – Combination Exacta/Forecast (1.5pts)

NEWCASTLE

  • 2.55: Torneo 6/4 (1.5pts)

Below The Radar

A rise of 8lb seems a little hefty for Castelfort’s latest run winning at 12/1 here over 2m.

That may make it tougher for him to win up in trip today but should still run well.

Below The Radar has been favourite in each of his two runs this season but failed to deliver.

His form has worked out very well when winning ahead of Don’t Rightly Know back in March at Uttoxeter and perhaps he can bounce back under Harry Cobden.

Perhaps the race just wasn’t run to suit last time, especially given how strong Nemean Lion is and the drop of 3lb is surely going to help.

He’s won on heavy before so that shouldn’t be an issue and though some of Paul Nicholls’s horses aren’t running to form, some of them are flying.

Booster Bob & Cabhfuilfungi

His two rivals couldn’t mount a challenge in any way with awkward jumping and getting tired toward the end, resulting in a 33 length victory.

He’s been upped 6lb as a result so it’s fairly conservative but still a big enough rise in case it wasn’t a fluke.

The eight-year-old’s form behind Tedley is encouraging as well, back in October with that horse now rated 15lb higher.

However, Booster Bob is also looking very strong in this race after placing in a bunched finish in a three horse race at Aintree on Boxing Day.

That was his first run after a wind op in November which came immediately after his surprisingly poor run at Warwick.

He’s open to further progress now especially as he was carrying 3lb more than Doyen Du Bar who went on to place behind the impressive Vincenzo at Sandown on Friday.

It may come down to who has the race run to suit and handling the conditions the best.

But given the pair’s odds it makes sense to go for a combination forecast/exacta for the most sensible bet.

Tom Lunn’s Horse Racing P/L

  • From November ’24: +64.2pts
  • From May ’24: +218.15pts
  • From July ’23: +430.71pts

Torneo

Coup De Coeur is open to progress running for the second time over fences in Britain.

But the money has to be on any of the front three in the market, Torneo, Cold Sobar or King Of Tara.

The former is just five-years-old and running with credit over fences, before finally getting off the mark last time out at Taunton just 20 days ago.

His form behind Beat Box has worked out very well and his win last time was impressive too; going from last to first, sweeping round the outside on the turn and commandingly winning.

He was upped just 5lb for that and though he was ridden with some vigour I get the impression there was plenty left in the tank still despite only winning by just over a length.
