Juventus fans have been watching intently for months, hoping for word that the club will move on from Max Allegri, who has done nothing but disappoint in his second stint as manager.
It seems as though Juventus have taken a step back after gambling on Andrea Pirlo, swiftly firing the Italian footballing legend in order to go back to a manager who seems bereft of ideas and has actively held back key players, including top talent Federico Chiesa. Now, Juve are scrambling with Chiesa even contemplating a move to rivals Roma to join with Paulo Dybala.
The good news for Juventini is that as the summer 2024 transfer window draws nearer and the club falls further behind confirmed Serie A champions Inter Milan, the less likely it seems for Allegri to stay.
In fact, top Italian footballing insider Alfredo Pedulla writes that there is “no chance” Bologna will be able to hold onto Thiago Motta and that his “path is clear” as the next manager to start the new cycle for Juventus.
Chelsea and others have shown interest in Thiago Motta, but one of the fastest-rising managers – and certainly the hottest topic in coaching in Italy – will be joining the Bianconeri.
So many recent reports indicate that Motta will be replacing Allegri shortly, and it truly does feel like only a matter of time before the ex-PSG midfielder is announced as his replacement in Turin.
Juventus fans will hope Motta can convince Chiesa and other key figures, perhaps even Frosinone star Matias Soule, to stick around at the Allianz Stadium for a 2024/25 refresh with a manager who has much more exciting tactics – and is on the cusp of doing the unthinkable by taking Bologna to the Champions League.
