Three students, 122 others arrive Nigeria from Sudan

A total of 125 stranded Nigerians arrived in the country on Saturday from Port Sudan. A total of 2,518 stranded Nigerians were evacuated from Sudan last month, after which the National Emergency Management Agency planned a mop operation to bring those still stranded back to the country.

Our correspondent learnt that the aircraft from Tarco Airline left Port Sudan International Airport on Saturday, June 24 at 10:45am with 125 Nigerian nationals and arrived Nigeria at 4:45pm.

The Director-General, NEMA, Mustapha Ahmed, represented by Director, Special Duties, Onimode Bandele, said out of the 125 passengers, three were the last batch of students that arrived, assuring that the last batch of evacuees would arrive Sunday.

Ahmed stated, “The Federal Government has given us the go-ahead to do two more flights. One arrived today and we are expecting the last flight any moment from tomorrow (Sunday).

“On board today, we have 125 passengers, out of which three are the last batch of students. We had 22 children on board. I want to thank the Federal Government for giving NEMA the support and we promise as an agency to give the government the best of our output to ensure that our mandate is performed to the latter.”
