Round three of the Liverpool & District Angling Association teams of three took place on the canal on Sunday, this one was pegged from the Saracens Head at Halsall, through the Kings Arms Cottages and ending before the playing fields at Haskayne Village Hall.

15 teams from all over the Northwest are taking part in this series of four, five hour matches, with the emphasis entirely on team points accumulated over the scheduled four match competition.

Leading the field on the day was the Three Amigos consisting of John Leeds, Dean Meadows and Jason Irving, anglers who have led the way since their fantastic score in the first round on taking the first day’s honours with just 6 points.

With a point score of 21 in the second round with LAS Blue winning that one with 11 points and closing the gap in second place, the Three Amigos took Sunday’s match with another superb score of 10, here to again extend their lead going into Sunday’s final match.

So for the three Amigos, it looks like this last match on Sunday is a mere formality for this team with a points score of just 37 and leading the table over a tight field. Their score over ‘Can’t Draws 61, Wigan MG Green’s 63 and Liverpool AS Blues 64 point’s, as well as other teams following closely all looking to capture a creditable team framing place.

Individually on a ‘hard’ canal on Sunday, it was the noted area at the Saracens Head that produced the overall winning weights, where skimmers were predominantly the source of the top nets on the day.

Those positions went to ‘Can’t Draw’s’ Kevin Green who certainly did draw as he took skimmers and roach for the top honours with 9.14.6 on the favoured Saracens Head length.

Matt Roberts with team BAS 1 also on the Saracens Head, took a similar catch for 9.9.8.

With a change in the weather certainly making its mark on the fishing, here given the climate has been notably changing this month, particularly with temperatures falling, this Saturdays grand ‘All Winners Final’ being held on the canal by Liverpool & District AA will be more than interesting with a guaranteed £1000 as the top prize.

In a match that will again be focusing on raising funds for a named charity, L&DAA Match Secretary Mike Dickson for this one has promoted that everyone involved also supports a regular angler on the Liverpool angling scene who has personally dedicated himself towards supporting a charity close to his very own heart.

Paul Kennils from Warrington is a member of Liverpool Angling Society and a regular stalwart of the Liverpool angling scene, privately this more than keen and enthusiastic talented angler has committed himself to supporting Zoe’s Places which is a baby hospice.

Already enrolling himself to undertake competing on a 450km (300 ml) cycle ride in India in November, Paul is hoping to raise as much funds as possible to help this fantastic charity.

With this and inspired by Paul’s own contribution to raise funds for Zoe’s Place, Mike Dickson with the help of his friends upon the Liverpool angling scene competing in this weekend’s match, he’s looking to make a substantial contribution towards enhancing the donations Paul is hoping to achieve by running a grand raffle will be held at the MCA at Maghull after the match on Saturday. Details for supporting the charity can be found on Liverpool District Angling Website. Reg Charity 1092545.
