May is an unusually quiet month on Netflix, especially when it comes to sci-fi movies. There’s only one new addition worth talking about: Upgrade, a film that may remind you of Sony’s Venom movies. Except Upgrade‘s artificial intelligence controls the body of its host, and doesn’t care for the man inside like Venom does. Additionally, Starship Troopers is back on Netflix. And while the sci-fi action flick is 26 years old, it’s still better than the majority of Netflix’s original science fiction films.
Unfortunately for fans of Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver, sank like a stone from the list of the most popular movies on Netflix. That’s also bad news for sci-fi fans in general, since it may discourage Netflix from spending that kind of money on sci-fi in the future. It would also mean more barren months like this one. The only way to convince Netflix to keep making more films in this genre is by watching the rest of the best sci-fi movies on Netflix right now.
