Popular luxury detective page, T20Luxury, has accused Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe of showcasing a counterfeit designer handbag.
The page took to Instagram to share a picture of Aigbe, alleging that the Louis Vuitton Capucines bag she flaunted was not authentic. T20Luxury also raised concerns about the credibility of her eyewear, hinting that it might be a counterfeit item as well.
“Dear Mercy Aigbe, this is NOT a genuine LV Capucines. Even the authenticity of the eyewear is questionable,†the post read.
The company further addressed the responsibilities of public figures, emphasizing the detrimental effects counterfeit goods have on the creative industry. They urged Aigbe to exercise caution when selecting stylists or personal shoppers.
“We recognize that, as a celebrity, you may depend on the expertise of a stylist or personal shopper to curate your wardrobe and accessories. However, we trust that you understand the negative impact of counterfeit goods on creativity, particularly given your influential role within the creative industry. We encourage you to conduct due diligence when hiring a stylist,†T20Luxury stated.
This incident follows a recent controversy involving comedian AY Makun, who was similarly accused by T20Luxury of flaunting a fake Hermès bag.
