A former lawmaker that represented Benue North East Senatorial District, Senator Gabriel Torwua Suswam has blasted the Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum for poor performance.
Senator Suswam who spoke in Makurdi during an expanded cactus meeting of the party, noted that Damagun has turned the party into a business venture and insisted that he was not qualified to remain in the leadership of the party.
Suswam who informed that “Damagun must go whether they like it or not”, lamented that the national leadership under Damagun was interested in destroying the party and they would not allow him to destroy it.
The former Governor accused the national party leadership of conniving with other bad elements to destroy the party.
He explained that it was their connivance with Samuel Ortom to hold what he described as a kangaroo election in Benue State which Ortom unlawfully conducted in the state.
Suswam wondered how there were no wards and local government congresses but delegates were drawn for the conduct of the state congress, describing it as a sham, adding also that it would not stand.
The former Governor announced that they were not short of ideas emphasising that if all they were banking on fails they would look for a better and stronger alternative.
The state Chairman of the party in the state, Mr. Christian Adaba Abah appreciated the PDP faithful for their firm support for the party and urged them to maintain their faith in the party and assured them that they would not regret.
Other speakers at the occasion including Udu Nyitse, for Benue North East, Cletus Upaa, for Benue North West, John Ngbede, for Benue South and Hyacinth Inyakuma for former House of Assembly members among others that spoke assured on behalf of their groups to remain loyal to the PDP and expressed the belief that the party would definitely get stronger and reclaim their mandate in 2027.
