The former Liverpool captain ‘can’t wait’
Steven Gerrard is set to become a grandad – and he’s looking forward to it. The Liverpool legend’s daughter, Lilly, shared a pregnancy announcement to her Instagram page. Gerrard, 44, is currently manager of Al Ettifaq and he shares four children with his wife, Alex Gerrard. They are the proud parents of Lilly, Lexie, Lourdes and Lio.
20-year-old Lilly posted a photo of two baby scans, two positive pregnancy tests, a pair of baby shoes and a pregnancy journal. She captioned the post: “Our little secret, the best news, mini us is on the way @leebyrne8.”
Lilly was supported by parents both parents, Steven and Alex Gerrard. The legendary midfielder commented: “We cant wait great news and congratulations we love you.” Responses to this comment from fans included “can’t believe the captain I loved since I was a kid is becoming a grandpa” and “it was like yesterday I used to watch you week in week out. Now your becoming a grandfather. Time flies! Congratulations legend.”
Alex Gerrard was also among the well-wishers. She responded “Can’t wait” alongside four red love hearts. And Lilly’s siblings Lourdes and Lexie sent their own messages of support. Lexie replied “Can’t wait to be a auntie” and Lourdes added “SO EXITEDDDD”.
Due to Gerrard’s role as manager of Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, the family are currently based in Bahrain where they are said to live in a luxury village. Their home, which costs about £10,000 per month, boasts a swimming pool and games room, and is situated near members of the Bahraini Royal family.
Gerrard spoke about his family’s adjustment to their new life after he signed a fresh contract in January, as he said: “The renewal decision brought a lot of positive feelings for me and my family, as it was the culmination of the hard work and true dedication that everyone showed from day one.”
