Human rights activist and founder of the #TakeItBack Movement, Omoyele Sowore, has mobilised a series of protests against the detention of Lagos-based lawyer and public affairs analyst, Dele Farotimi.

Blueprint recalls that Faraotimi, a human rights activist was arrested by officers of the Ekiti State Police Command over allegations of defaming the character of the founder of Afe Babalola University, Aare Afe Babalola SAN in his recently published book, ‘Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System’.

Subsequently, Farotimi was remanded in prison till December 10 after he was at the Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday.

The lawyer’s ordeal has generated several reactions from Nigerians across the country, with many demanding his release.

In a post via his official X handle, Sowore revealed that the protest will kick off on December 10 from the Afe Babalola Chambers in Lagos, Federal Ministry of Justice Abuja, Police Headquarters in Ekiti and Kings College Campus in London.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”, he wrote.
