Speaking during a ceremony in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, Coordinator of NANS South-West Zone D, Comrade John Alao, stated, “Dr. Idowu Adewumi has been supporting Nigerian students for a considerable period. He is a leader and mentor, representing the voice of Nigerian students not only in Africa but also beyond.”

Responding to the award, Adewumi, who is a Past Assistant Governor and Chairman of Oyo State Welfare and Contact for Rotary International District 9125, expressed, “I feel honored. When you work and realize that certain people are noticing your efforts and unexpectedly decide to honor you, one should be grateful to God for that.”
“This isn’t the first time; a few years ago, I was appointed an ECOWAS Youth Ambassador, and I didn’t rest on my laurels because I believe that after every congratulation, there’s a job to be done. Despite the obstacles, we ensure that things work for Nigerian youths and students in particular.”
“Therefore, I see this as a challenge to continue contributing effortlessly to the betterment of Nigerian students and youths in general. I thank NANS South-West for this honor to serve, and I shall strive to exceed expectations.”
