At least six buildings have collapsed following a fire outbreak in the Dosunmu market on the Lagos Island.
This was confirmed in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA); Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, on Thursday in Lagos.
Oke-Osanyintolu explained that 16 other structures were severely affected by the accident.

Nonetheless, he stated that on day three of the disaster, the fire was still being put out. He also mentioned that he had started supervising the destruction of the buildings that had collapsed on themselves to ground zero and the removal of the remnants.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has declared that the government would support individuals affected by the fire incident and therefore, Dosunmu Market is under an indefinite Shut down.
In accordance with the state’s construction standards, the governor threatened to demolish any property that did not comply.
