‘Show what he’s got’ – Bryson DeChambeau teases round of golf video with Donald Trump

Bryson Dechambeau has teased the release of a YouTube video of his round of golf with Donald Trump.

The American golfer failed to make the cut for the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon last weekend, alongside other big names Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

But the 2024 US Open winner has now turned his attention back towards home – namely, the country’s upcoming presidential election.

Just three days after his Open nightmare, DeChambeau uploaded an Instagram post showing him standing next to Republican presidential candidate, Trump.

The pair are stood on a golf course, both with their arms folded across their chest in front of a hole.

Naturally, the hole is marked with an American flag.

“It’s time for @realdonaldtrump to show YouTube what he’s got,” the 30-year-old wrote as the caption.

DeChambeau’s ‘Break 50’ series on YouTube involves him trying to play nine holes in less than 50 strokes from the red tees – the furthest-forward tees on each hole – with a high-profile guest.

And Trump is currently dominating headlines around the globe, as he’s campaigning to win a second term as president of the United States.

He last served as president from January 2017 to January 2021.

The 45th president of the US had been up against current president, Joe Biden, this November. However, Biden withdrew his candidacy on Sunday, with the Democrat delegates now deciding who to endorse as the new candidate to run for the election.

Before his withdrawal, Biden and Trump faced off in a debate – and believe it or not, golf was brought up, with the pair bickering about each other’s golfing abilities.

It was then that California-born DeChambeau hatched the idea for his YouTube series – let Trump and Biden settle the debate by facing him.

Taking to X on Monday, the American clarified that his video with Trump was not a political endorsement and he’d asked both candidates from both parties to participate.

“Break 50 with @realDonaldTrump dropping tomorrow on my YouTube channel! On this special episode, we will be donating $10,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project for every stroke we score under par. Stay tuned,” he said.

In a second post, the LIV Golfer added: “To be clear, this is about golf and giving back to our nation’s veterans, not politics. A few weeks ago I reached out to both parties’ presidential campaigns and @realDonaldTrump was down for the challenge.

“It is an incredible honour to be able to enjoy a round of golf with any sitting or former president, and all have an open invitation to join me for a round of Break 50 anytime.”

DeChambeau wished Trump well after he was shot in the ear during an attempted assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13.

“Violence deserves no place in this world. Praying for President Trump and his family. Wishing for a speedy recovery,” he wrote on X.
