Tennessee Titans fans are getting desperate.
But there may just be light at the end of the tunnel for the struggling franchise.
The Titans entered Week 18 with a 3-13 record and a very good shot at the first pick in April’s NFL Draft.
Just to make sure the Houston Texans were fired up, the hosts wore throwback uniforms and logos hailing back to their days as the Oilers in their former city.
It worked. The Texans took a 23-13 victory home with them and the New England Patriots beat a second-string Buffalo Bills team to lose its grip on the first overall pick
Two Titans fans were pictured using paper bags with eye holes cut in them to keep out of the rain – and hide their shame.
One had a picture of Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders stuck on it as they eyed the silver lining amid the storm clouds.
Sanders – son of Hall of Famer Deion – could very well be the first name off the board and was keeping an eye on social media during the final regular-season slate.
“Legendary,” he commented on a video of the fans on Instagram.
Titans fans were hyped in the replies.
“Nashville lowkey a nice city fr [for real],” wrote one.
“We need you out hear n Nashville bruh,” added a second.
There are lots of teams in need of a quarterback in spring.
The New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, and New Orleans Saints could all be in the market along with the Titans.
Cam Ward is the first quarterback on ESPN’s big board, with Jalen Milroe behind Sanders in third.
There have been question marks over the quality of quarterbacks available in the Class of ’25.
NFL Network analyst Adam Schefter suggested J.J. McCarthy – the fifth QB off the board in 2024 – may have gone first overall in 2025.
The Titans could decide to stick with their room of Will Levis and Mason Rudolph for next season.
That would allow the franchise to take a shot at Heisman Trophy-winner Travis Hunter – Shedeur’s teammate at Colorado.
The No.1 pick could also be traded to a desperate rival to pick up more capital.
Shortly after Sunday’s early slate and losing their position atop the Draft, the Patriots sacked coach Jerod Mayo.
Former Titans boss Mike Vrabel is the frontrunner to land the coveted post.
