Organised religions have been the major cause of our economical, social and security crisis. Some of the lucky atheist here knows very well that all religions are stupid, non-factual man-made rituals and laws pass down through generations , by terror and indoctrinations. We know clearly that religions don’t work with facts, but with myths and faith. It stop us from reasoning and questioning. It makes people racist and terrorist.
I know that a lot of you here lives in the closet for the fear of being persecuted just because you said “f*ck no more stories, I want the facts”. But mentally I know you feel better than before, and you see the world differently and treat people better. Also, you are smart!!
I’m a Nigerian currently living in the UK and moved here when I was 17. Before I moved here, I was extremely religious because its what I’d known and been exposed to by family and friends. Exposure to a different way of thinking helped me question my previous beliefs and abandon them eventually. Looking back now, I realize how fucked Nigeria is because of religion. Rational thinking people in that country are so rare there that I’ve lost all hope for that place.
The problem we have in Nigeria is not religion per-say but lack of sincerity and we are Hypocrites. Majority of us don’t practice what we read and preach in the Bible and Quran. Religion is meant to keep people in check and also have a sense of purpose and direction in life.
I feel Nigeria will be far worse and brutal without religion because what is stopping most people from perpetrating evil in Nigeria is Religion. Otherwise you will see almost every one doing juju and causing misfortune to others or killing people mysteriously at will
