Real Madrid have been trying to sign Kylian Mbappé for years, and while they became understandably less desperate after the forward rejected them in 2022, they always remained in the mix due to Florentino Pérez’s obsession with the superstar.
It looks like the Presi’s infatuation with Mbappé is paying off, as the former World Cup hero seems all but certain to head to Madrid because, this time, the Qatar ownership has given up on trying to persuade him otherwise.
Mbappé is well and truly fed up with the false promises, woeful recruitment, subpar coaching, and overall culture of toxicity that has plagued a club lacking any sort of stability.
But beyond those factors, Real Madrid can also thank a key figure close to Mbappé for changing her mind after seemingly playing a key role in Mbappé staying in Paris and signing an unprecedented contract in order to spurn Los Merengues.
According to a report from Relevo, Mbappé’s mother Fayza Lamari recently traveled to the Spanish capital in order to find a house for her son. He is reportedly expected to live near Vinícius Júnior in the La Moraleja district.
It would be quite fitting for Mbappé to live near Vini in Madrid, because the two will have inextricably linked futures if they play together, given they are both left wingers.
Vini will likely be more of the winger to Mbappé the forward, though they are both likely to play together side-by-side in front of fellow Galáctico Jude Bellingham in this new formation concocted by legendary manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Lamari’s about-face and support of an Mbappé move to Madrid is just as key to anything else that could have influenced his decision in this saga, given how much influence she has and how much Kylian values his mother’s opinion.
As the reports continue to flow from all angles, Madridistas may finally have some faith that Mbappé is coming to the Santiago Bernabéu. But, of course, they will not buy it until they see him there, for real.
