PSC Not Reviewing 10,000 Police Constables Recruitment – Spokesman

The Police Service Commission, on Tuesday, denied reports that it was reviewing the list of successful candidates for the 2022 constable recruitment exercise.

The commission also stated that it had never advised candidates to print any updated invitation slips or proceed to the Police Training Colleges.

This is the second time the commission has issued a rebuttal on this matter amid the ongoing dispute with the police over the recruitment exercise.

The row between the two bodies began 11 days after the PSC on June 4 released the list of 10,000 successful applicants for constable and specialist cadre roles in the Nigeria Police Force.

The police had rejected the list, alleging that the recruitment exercise was marred by corruption and irregularities.

However, the commission vowed not to cancel the list, prompting the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, to step into the matter.

The matter has yet to be resolved.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Head, of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, advised successful candidates to be patient and await its official statement on the just concluded recruitment exercise.

Ani said, “The commission wishes to clarify that it has at no time issued any statement on (i) review of the list of successful candidates or (ii) inviting successful candidates to check their application on the newly launched portal.

“The commission has not at any time advised candidates to print any updated invitation slip and proceed to the Police Training Colleges. It has also not announced any date for the training programme, and the Monday, July 22nd 2024, date, bandied in social media, is just the imagination of the impostors.

“The commission wishes to advise candidates to be patient and await its official statement on the just concluded recruitment exercise.”

Ani warned the purveyors of the fake reports to desist as they would be made to face the wrath of the law when apprehended.

He said, “The PSC also warns these unrelenting impostors to steer clear of its activities, especially the recruitment exercise, and warns that anybody caught undermining the exercise will be dealt with in accordance with the law.”
