A police Inspector has been detained over the alleged murder of a musician, Okezie Mba aka Igbo-Jah, in Enugu State.
The police officer was attached to the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad in the Enugu State Police Command.
The command spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Enugu.
He said the incident occurred at 8:10 p.m. on October 25, at the Tactical Squad’s Headquarters, Enugu.
Igbo-Jah was known for his Ogene (traditional) lyrics.
According to Ndukwe, the musician was leaving the squad’s headquarters after a visit for reasons yet to be ascertained when the police officer allegedly fired the gunshot that hit the victim.
Mba was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by doctors on duty.
