Police confirm arrest of 35 suspects for various crimes


The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 35 suspects for various crimes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, car theft, and more.

Disclosing this on Monday, while speaking on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Salman Garba Dogo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Kiyawa, at the State Police Headquarters in Bompai, Kano, said that the command has achieved notable successes in its efforts to combat crime, with 19 cases of arrests and recoveries in the past month.

He stated that the command had arrested a total of 35 suspects in connection with various crimes, including armed robbery, kidnapping, theft, drug dealing, and fraud.

According to him, “The recovered items include dangerous weapons, stolen vehicles, solar batteries, mobile phones, and counterfeit currency.”

Providing further details, he disclosed, “The arrest of five suspected armed robbers on August 12 is connected to a robbery incident at Hotoro Quarters, Kano, with a motor vehicle and a locally made gun recovered.”

Others included “the arrest of two suspected kidnappers on July 18, and the rescue of two kidnapped victims in a deep forest in Gubuchi Village, Makari LGA, Kaduna State.”

He continued, “The arrest of five suspected thieves on August 27 led to the recovery of five solar batteries in Warawa LGA, Kano.”

The PPRO also added, “The arrest of two mobile phone armed robbers on August 26 resulted in the recovery of a sharp knife and a stolen mobile phone in Dorayi Quarters, Kano.”

Furthermore, “The arrest of three suspected drug dealers on August 26 led to the recovery of 98 pieces of Exol tablets and a block of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp in Yan-tagwage Quarters, Kano.”

However, the command commended the unwavering support and assistance received from the State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, adding that this noble gesture has significantly boosted the morale of the command in achieving these laudable goals.

The command also urged members of the public to continue providing useful and necessary information that would aid the command in confronting criminal elements within the state. The command reaffirmed its commitment to fighting crime and ensuring the safety of citizens in Kano State.
