Peter Obi: Nigeria must look beyond oil

The Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, says Nigeria must look beyond oil, adding that he intends to move the country from oil to industrial revolution by expanding physical infrastructure.

Obi also said he would pursue a drastic reduction in the cost of governance and corruption if elected into office.

The former Anambra State governor disclosed this Sunday afternoon in a series of tweets on his verified Twitter handle.

Speaking on cost-saving measures, Obi said he would operate within available resources to achieve a balanced national budget.

He wrote, “As a nation, Nigeria must look beyond oil.

“We, therefore, intend to leapfrog Nigeria from oil to the Fourth Industrial Revolution by expanding physical infrastructure through market-driven reforms that will unleash growth-enabling entrepreneurship and market-creating innovations and market-creating innovations. To ensure sustainability and resilience, we will stop borrowing for consumption.

“It is also imperative that henceforth, we should strive to operate within available resources and strive for a balanced national budget as cost saving measures.”
