Jon Newsome has insisted that Patrick Bamford brings something to the table for Leeds United that no other player in their squad can and thinks the Whites are a better side with him on the pitch.
Leeds have won their last five Championship games on the trot and Bamford was in the starting eleven in all those fixtures.
The forward has scored three times in the last five games and has been key in Leeds looking like a team who could get promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Newsome stressed that Bamford’s skillset makes him unique in the Leeds squad as no one else can do what he can on the pitch for the Whites.
He conceded that Bamford did look frustrating last season and at the start of the campaign but believes Leeds are just a better team with him in on the pitch.
The former White said on BBC Radio Leeds: “He can do things for our team that nobody else in our squad can do.
“He has been underrated, he has been pilloried at times over the last couple of seasons and don’t get me wrong, the penalty he missed at Stoke and the chances he missed last season was frustrating for everybody and him.
“But he gives us something else that other people haven’t got and we are a better team with him in the side.”
It remains to be seen whether Bamford starts again when Leeds take on Plymouth in the FA Cup on Tuesday night.
