At the wake for the late Herbert Wigwe, CEO of Access Holdings, the Master of Ceremony (MC) received criticism and was booed by guests for failing to acknowledge the presence of Peter Obi, Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 election.
Dignitaries, visitors, well-wishers, and loved ones of the late Herbert Wigwe, CEO of Access Holdings, have gathered in Omueke, Isiokpo village, Rivers State, for his Christian wake, where he, his wife, and son will be remembered.
Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, and their eldest son Chizzy died in a plane disaster in the United States about a month ago. Although burial ceremonies for the Wigwe family started earlier this week, dignitaries have begun to gather in Rivers State in anticipation for their burial ceremonies.
A widely shared video showed the MC recognizing other famous attendees at the ceremony, but missing Peter Obi.
The crowd’s fury turned into booing, leaving the MC startled and perplexed. It wasn’t until later that he realized his mistake and publicly apologized to Peter Obi for the carelessness.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State Siminalyi Fubara, and Tonye Cole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State for 2023, were among those who paid their last respects ahead of the burial ceremony on Saturday.
