Ahead of the April 20 date to pick its candidate for the Ondo State Governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee has settled for a direct primary.
Checks revealed that the Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje-led NWC has since conveyed its mode of primary to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
By provisions in its Constitution, the APC has three modes of primary for picking its candidates for general elections: direct, Indirect and Consensus option.
Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, confirmed the choice of primary while speaking with journalists in Abuja.

He said: “We are using the direct primary mode of election for Ondo State governorship primary election.
“This decision has equally been conveyed in a letter duly signed by the National Chairman and the National Secretary to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the party has adopted direct mode of election for Ondo State governorship election.”
Tribune Online gathered that apart from the sitting governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, fifteen other aspirants are seeking the APC ticket for the November governorship elections
Other main contenders include Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, Honourable Isaac Kekemeke and Chief Olusola Oke, (SAN).
