The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has said the leadership of the Kwara State chapter remains valid.
The body disclosed this in a letter to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq signed by it’s national president and secretary general, ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe and comrade Abubakar Suleiman respectively.
NYCN said Comrade Alli Nasiru Yusuf remained the authentic chairman of the council in the state.
The council’s vice president (North Central), Comrade Mukhtar Akoshile, had via a letter, announced the dissolution of the state chapter.
But in the governor’s letter, NYCN debunked the “purported dissolution and dissociated the national
headquarters from the announcement.
The body said at a management meeting held in August in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, attended by comrade Yusuf, it was resolved that all congresses should be on hold till November.
The NYCN further said Akoshile lacked the constitutional capacity to write such a dissolution letter or issue such a directive.
It added that “only the secretary, under the directive of the president, has the capacity to do such”.
“We, therefore, urge the state governor and other relevant stakeholders to continue their smooth working relationship with the current executive led by Yusuf.
“The governor would be officially informed when the chapter elects a new executive”, it added.
