Two-time UFC Middleweight champio, Israel Adesanya, on Wednesday claimed a N10million payout after successfully betting on Enyimba FC in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash with Lobi Stars.
Adesanya placed a $4,000 bet (around N3 million) on the Aba team to secure a win in their rescheduled matchday two encounter.
With Enyimba favoured to win at odds of 1.48, Adesanya stood to collect a handsome $5,920 (N10 million) if the People’s Elephant triumphed—and they did not disappoint.
Enyimba took an early lead at their fortress in Aba, with Chinedu Ufere breaking the deadlock just 14 minutes into the game.
Two minutes later, Eze Ekwutoziam doubled the lead from the penalty spot, putting Enyimba firmly in control.
Lobi Stars, however, fought back, and Waheed Adebayor pulled one back in the 36th minute.
Despite their efforts, the Pride of Benue could not find an equaliser, leaving them to suffer another defeat in the 2024/25 NPFL season.
The win marked Enyimba’s second straight league victory, following their 3-1 success over Heartland on September 8.
With six points from two matches, Enyimba now climb to fourth on the league table, having played one game fewer than most of their competitors.
