I‘m not sure if this is the right sub to ask, so please let me know if there is another subreddit better for my question.
I am about to write my Bachelor Thesis in English Literature, and my topic is ”The Search for Identity in Post-Colonial Nigerian Literature“. After having read several novels, I had the idea of using novels that also include the perspective of a white character to contrast the different problems the characters face in their search for identity. Examples of such novels would be Arrow of God by Achebe or Half of a Yellow Sun by Adichie.
However, my supervising Professor requires me to use three novels as my primary sources. So I wanted to ask you all if you had any recommendations for novels on Nigeria and by Nigerian authors that also include the perspective of a white character. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a main character like Richard in Half of a Yellow Sun, but could also be a minor character whose struggles are in some way presented.
The more recent the novel has been published the better, but I am open for every suggesti
