The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has told Tosin Adarabioyo to reach out to them if he wants to play for the Super Eagles.
Adarabioyo left Fulham for Chelsea this summer and is reportedly willing to change international allegiance.
The centre-back has represented England at youth level but is still eligible to play for Nigeria.
The 27-year-old turned down the chance to represent Nigeria in the past claiming he was not ready.
The centre-back was approached by former Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro last year but stood his ground.
The NFF has now declared that he would need to make a formal move to be considered.
“Jose Peseiro travelled to meet with him (Adarabioyo) in the UK last year to speak to him about playing for Nigeria, but he told the coach at that time that he was not ready,” an NFF source told ESPN.
“If he wants to make the switch now he knows what to do.”
