Newcastle are confident they are close to reaching an agreement with Anthony Gordon over signing a new long-term contract, talkSPORT understands.
talkSPORT reported in July that the Magpies wanted to get Gordon tied down after he almost joined Liverpool in June.
A £70million deal was virtually agreed between the two clubs as Newcastle were frantically trying to sell players to avoid a potential PSR penalty.
However they were able to keep hold of the ex-Everton winger having offloaded Jankubah Minteh and Elliott Anderson to Brighton and Nottingham Forest respectively.
Gordon has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top wingers since making the move to St James’ Park from Goodison Park in January 2023.
