The Minority Leader of the Senate, Abba Moro (PDP, Benue South), has declared in Abuja Friday that his constituents in Benue South Senatorial District were running out of patience on the incessant killings by herdsmen.
Abba Moro, who made the declaration in a statement signed by his media adviser, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, called on both the federal and state governments to “immediately halt the killings as the affected people and communities are running out of patience.”
“I can no longer guarantee the continued patience of the affected people who have been waiting for the government to come to their aid. The victims have been pushed to the wall and will resort to self-help if help does not come to them immediately,” he said.
He specifically lamented that Apa, Agatu and Otukpo LGAs in Benue South Senatorial District “have been under bloody attacks by marauding herders in recent time, leading to wanton destruction of lives and property.”
He frowned upon the ugly development which, according to him, must be nipped in the bud.
“The most worrisome and painful are the recent killings in the land, especially the Sunday and Friday killings in Ogbaulu Community, in Agatu LGA. The unprovoked attacks which resulted in the gruesome murder of five harmless villagers on their farms are unacceptable.”
He, therefore, called on security agents to go after the perpetrators of the heinous crime and bring them to book.
