Mike Tyson’s training routine has left a TV presenter doubting the legend will beat Jake Paul.
Tyson is currently in a full training camp at the age of 58 as he prepares for his stunning comeback in a sanctioned professional fight with Paul on November 15.
Naturally, the legend has faced widespread health concerns given his age and the fact he hasn’t fought competitively since retiring in 2005.
‘Iron Mike’ has been posting training footage from his current preparations, which he was quizzed on during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel.
Kimmel pledged his support for Tyson, and asked: “Are you training hard, how many hours a day?”
Tyson replied: “I am training extremely hard, I do six hours a day. I start at 11am and might leave the gym at 5pm.”
Kimmel then looked stunned and said: “Oh no. 11am? So that’s six hours straight, or is there a lunch break?”
Tyson added there was a small break to which Kimmel replied: “Oh no.”
He then continued to explain: “I also get a massage and then go into strength and conditioning.
The presenter was clearly not too pleased with his answer, but then asked: “Will you be high, maybe on marijuana for the fight?”
To which the boxing legend continued: “Not really, I haven’t smoked so not any time soon.
“I will be so high off of life yeah. It is a possibility too [he will be high on marijuana].”
The host then concluded: “Oh no my bet is getting lower as we talk.”
He comically put his head in his hands, but revealed continuously he would be backing the veteran to deliver an astonishing KO.
It was a fascinating insight into his routine, particularly given he has admitted he is ‘struggling’ with the physical aspect of training.
Tyson even revealed he has been sparring in the ring, which has left him ‘struggling to walk’.
It will be a tough challenge given Paul is in his physical prime at the age of 26, despite having far less experience.
The former undisputed champion does clearly still carry an element of his ferocious punching power, and harbours hopes of delivering another trademark KO against the odds.
