A man is currently in hospital with serious injuries
A mum on a night out in Liverpool city centre saw a man injured in a knife incident. Merseyside Police were called at around 8.55pm on Thursday, August 22 following reports a 21-year-old man had been found on Church Street with injuries to his body consistent with a bladed weapon being used.
A spokesperson for the force said they believe the man was involved in an altercation with around “seven young males” before the incident occurred. Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to hospital where he remained in a serious but stable condition this morning.
Jodie-Lea Slater, originally from Wigan but living in Kirkby, was on a night out with a friend when she witnessed the incident. The 24-year-old claimed she saw the man with a “knife in his hand”.

Jodie told the ECHO: “He had a knife out in his hand. They said ‘lad put the knife down.’ We were going out for a night out. I was a bit shaken up. Me and my friends didn’t end up staying out. We went home.
“I intervened and told him to leave them alone. He started coming towards me. I tried to help the kids, I was with my friend.” In the video, the man appears to run towards one of the young men before slipping on the floor. The group can then be seen surrounding the man on the floor.
Jodie added: “I’ve got three kids myself. All I saw was a grown man running at a bunch of kids.” A police cordon remained outside Primark and Lush this morning and several police vehicles were also at the scene.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said enquiries are ongoing and witness and CCTV enquiries were being carried out in the local area. Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 24000729507.
