Mohamed Salah to Saudi Arabia verdict delivered as next Liverpool transfer ‘agreed’

The latest Liverpool transfer news and rumours as another academy graduate seems set to seal a permanent move away from the Reds this summer alongside Bobby Clark

Liverpool will seemingly cash in on another academy graduate this summer after reportedly agreeing a deal to sell Harvey Blair to Portsmouth. After frequently featuring as a substitute during pre-season, the winger did not make the matchday squad away at Ipswich Town on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

Blair, 20, also did not play in the under-21’s first two games of their new season. He is now over a year removed from sustaining a meniscus tear that scuppered a potential loan move last summer.

The former Manchester United youth player, who joined the Reds at the under-12s level, also had endured an injury-affected 2022/23 season. Now, a Championship campaign reportedly beckons for the Huddersfield-born player.

David Lynch states on his Substack that the Reds have agreed to a £300,000 deal with Pompey. The update comes three days after Lynch claimed the club were open to selling Blair for an acceptable offer, which the South Coast club appears to have made.

While they are reputedly willing to cash in on another academy graduate, the Reds are also being urged to cash in on Mohamed Salah while they still can by former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness. “I still think Mohamed Salah will go,” Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast.

“I could be completely wrong, but when I’ve been in Saudi recently – I’ve seen the clamour for him to come. Ronaldo has probably got another season after this, so they’ll want Salah in as the face of the league.

“I could be wrong, and it may not be possible, but I think Liverpool would be better off cashing in on him with one year left. It may have been kept quiet up to now. That would be a headline deal, and it makes sense.

“Saudi Arabia have got their TV rights coming up soon, and if Salah came, the Egyptian rights would go through the roof. There are a lot of reasons it makes sense.

“But then again, he scored on Saturday, and it makes you think that maybe one more season will be worth it for Liverpool. Still, my business head is saying to get it done right now. Whether the football side will agree, it’s a different thing.”
