Mexico and Nigeria have clashed seven times in the past, with five of the games ending in draws.
The El Tri thrashed a Super Eagles side consisting of players from the Nigeria Professional Football League 4-0 the last time both teams met in a friendly last year.

“It is true that we did not play against any African, but Nigeria is still a great rival and we have many things to improve, regardless of the opponent in turn,” Martino told a press conference ahead of the game.
“Regarding which players will be in the initial game, he pointed out that they will be the ones who have been in this concentration the longest.
“There may be one or another that doesn’t, but in general terms, the team is going to be much closer to the players who started in CAR with us”.
Mexico will face Uruguay and Ecuador after the game against the Super Eagles.
The Super Eagles on the other hand have another friendly lined up against Ecuador next week Thursday.
