A man unconnected with the crash was detained on Ranelagh Street
A man was found with a suspected imitation gun and a knife after police officers attended the scene of a crash. Merseyside Police were called to Ranelagh Street in Liverpool city centre at 4.45pm on Saturday (August 17) following reports that a man in his 30s had been hit by a private hire taxi.
A number of police vehicles and North West Ambulance Service attended the scene – the car’s windscreen had been cracked during the crash. Buses were diverted but the road remained open as officers dealt with the incident.
While officers were at the scene, they were made aware by Citywatch camera operators that a man, unconnected with the road traffic collision, had been seen nearby in possession of a suspected imitation firearm. Enquiries suggest it was a BB gun.
