1. President Bola Tinubu has directed the National Economic Council to come up with inputs on palliatives and the minimum wage review as part of measures to cushion the pain of subsidy removal. Speaking during a meeting with members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Tinubu directed NEC led by Vice President Kashim Shettima to mobilise various interventions to cushion the hardship faced by Nigerians.

2. The Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, tendered in evidence on Wednesday the final results for the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory. The court admitted the forms in evidence and marked them as exhibits. Thereafter, it adjourned further hearings on the petition to Thursday, June 8, 2023.

3. The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, on Wednesday, signed and handed over documents of office to his successor, George Akume. The handover took place at the SGF office located at the Three Arms Zone in Abuja, shortly after Akume’s arrival.

7. A boy has been reported killed by a truck and many others injured during the demolition of structures at the Eid-Ground in Kano metropolis. It was gathered that the incident happened when thugs invaded the place to loot from the debris of the demolished structures.

8. A Kano State Sharia court sitting in Dambare, in Ungogo LGA has remanded a DJ, Ali Dan-Asabe, for disrupting studies and other activities in an Islamiyya school. Dan-Asabe was dragged before the court by the police following a complaint from the school’s management that his activities were disrupting pupils with loud music while they were having classes.

9. Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Wednesday said he was not bothered that the 9th National Assembly under his leadership was tagged rubber stamp Assembly. He stated this at an interactive session with the Senate Press Corps at the National Assembly, Abuja.

10. No fewer than 75 senators-elect are backing Senator Godswill Akpabio for Senate President ahead of next week’s inauguration of the 10th National Assembly, Senator Ali Ndume said Wednesday night.
