Ahead of the June 13 inauguration of the 10th National Assembly, the Peoples Democratic Party has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of plotting to intimidate and arrest lawmakers-elect seen as championing the independence of the legislature to influence the choice of the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The Reps-elect, representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, Philip Agbese has described the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele as a corrupt economic rascal who had no business in governance. Agbese, in a statement, Friday night, said by suspending Emefiele, the president has again displayed readiness for the job.

The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) on Saturday struck out an application filed by the Labour Party (LP) and its candidate, Peter Obi, which sought answers from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over its claim that ‘technological glitches’ prevented electronic transmission of results of the February 25, presidential election.

6. Laolu Akande, former spokesperson for the immediate past Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has described the damage allegedly perpetrated at the apex bank by the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, as colossal. Akande claims the suspension and investigation of Emefiele were long overdue and should be supported by any Nigerian who values integrity.

7. The Police have dared ex-Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State to prove that his cars were stolen. After the raid on his residences in Gusau and Maradun, Matawalle had claimed he was robbed.

8. Former Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, has said Nigerians may be catered for by native doctors if the brain drain among medical doctors persists. While speaking at the induction ceremony of medical students of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo State, Mimiko said the government needs to urgently find lasting solutions to the mass exodus of medical personnel.
