The Lagos State Government yesterday said the Taskforce conducted a major operation against illegal motorcycle (okada) riders in the Ikorodu and Berger areas of the state and confiscated 64 motorcycles.
The Chairman of the State Task Force, CSP Adetayo Akerele, emphasised on government’s strict stance on the ban, warning riders to cease illegal operations.
He urged them to find alternative means of livelihoods, as continued violations could lead to severe penalties, including imprisonment.
Akerele assured that the Taskforce remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of Lagos residents by enforcing traffic and environmental laws that promotes public safety.
The Chairman of the Taskforce assured residents that the agency would continue to crack down on illegal okada activities in restricted areas and encouraged commuters to choose safer and more secured modes of transportation that align with the State Government’s THEMES Plus Agenda.
