Lagos govt onboards 3,857 newly recruited officers into oracle database

Lagos State Government on Tuesday said a total of 3,857 newly recruited officers in various cadres of the state were uploaded into the Oracle database and thereafter, deployed to relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), reiterating the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration towards the welfare of civil servants in the state.

The State Head of Service (HoS), Mr Olabode Agoro, made this known at the ongoing Ministerial Press Briefing organised by the Ministry of Information and Strategy to mark the first year of the second term of Governor Sanwo-Olu in office.

Agoro maintained that the state had organised various seminars and training workshops to retain its status as the best and most viable in the country, noting that representatives from other states across the country now come to terms with understudying the Lagos State Civil Service.

While responding to questions from journalists on the last day of the Ministerial Press Briefing organised by the Ministry of Information and Strategy to mark the first year of the second term of Sanwo-Olu as Governor, Agoro also disclosed that the 3,857 newly recruited officers in various cadres of the state were uploaded into the Oracle database and thereafter, deployed to relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The HoS, while enumerating the achievements of his office in the last one year, stated that the state began organising quarterly training, sensitisation and skills acquisition programmes to impact retirees with the knowledge and skills required to kick-start and successfully run profitable ventures in retirement.

According to him, there are interactive sessions of the Head of Service with retirees of Lagos State Public Service, saying that this serves as a rallying point for retirees to express their opinion regarding retirement matters.

Besides, Agoro said the office is collaborating with relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government to facilitate mentorship and empowerment for retirees who have undergone skills acquisition programmes, thereby ensuring smooth take-off of retirees’ businesses.

He disclosed that a total of 166 newly recruited administrative and human resource officers, in the period under review, undertook familiarisation tours to key MDAs to improve their human resource management skills and acquaint themselves with the public service environment.

Agoro, while noting that a total of 125 service-wide circulars on policy guidelines and other state activities were issued during the period under review, further disclosed that Governor Sanwo-Olu approved, among others, appointments of principal officers, the elevation of 24 senior public servants to the position of permanent secretaries, affirming that these accounting officers were drawn from the crop of seasoned, proficient and competent senior management officers across different cadres.

This was just as he equally disclosed that a screening exercise for the aspiring candidates for the positions of Permanent Secretaries and Tutors-General in the state Public Service had just been concluded.

“Head of Service just concluded the screening exercise for the aspiring candidates for the positions of Permanent Secretaries and Tutors-General in the state Public Service,” he said.
