By Ogaga Ariemu

The Lagos State government has conducted an enforcement operation to dislodge street traders and dismantle illegal structures on drainage setbacks in Maryland.

The Ministry of Environment and Water Resource Commissioner, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this on Monday in a statement on his official X handle.

According to him, the officers of the Lagos Environmental Corps conducted the exercise around Mende Road by the SUBEB fence opposite the NEPA office, in Maryland, as part of an effort to achieve a cleaner Lagos.

He posted: “As instructed, the Special Operatives of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps @LAGESCOfficial/ KAI carried out a special enforcement operation today.

“The enforcement was to dislodge recalcitrant street traders and dismantle illegal structures on drainage setbacks which serve as wares depots at the perimeter fence of Mende Road by the SUBEB fence opposite the NEPA office, Maryland”.

DAILY POST reported earlier that the Lagos Government had given owners of buildings lying within the seven-metre setback on Orchid Road, Agungi, Ajiran, Conservation Road, and Osapa, all along the Ikota River, a week’s notice to leave.
