Kyle Brandt rips into NFL’s ‘broken’ franchise as he urges team to make historic decision

The Chicago Bears fell to their third consecutive loss against the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams was sacked nine times during a 19-3 rout, which laid bare Chicago’s offensive struggles.

The team has not reached the end zone in back-to-back games and has now gone 23 straight drives without a touchdown.

Head coach Matt Eberflus said post-game that he will evaluate ‘everything from the top to the bottom’ – which includes potentially changing who calls offensive plays.

Just weeks ago, the Bears were looking good at 4-2.

Now, they are 4-5 and bottom of the NFC North.

The mood around the franchise was summed up on Sunday by fans who booed and chanted for Eberflus to be fired, before leaving
Soldier Field in droves before the end of the game.

Eberflus and offensive coordinator Shane Waldron continue to repeatedly make questionable calls, and nine sacks against the 3-7 Patriots prove they are putting Williams in danger.

Many are convinced it’s time for a change, including Good Morning Football host Kyle Brandt, who believes Chicago are in serious trouble.

“It’s not that the Bears look bad, they look broken,” he began.

“It’s a total start to finish malfunction. The energy is flat, the effort is flat. The body language, it’s almost offensive.

“You watch games on Sunday, and there are teams that don’t play well and teams that lose. Then you watch the Bears and you say, ‘What the hell is this?’

“It feels like they’re not being properly run, packaged or produced.”

Concluding his scathing assessment, Brandt suggested the franchise could make a historic decision and fire a coach midseason.

In their 104-year history, the Bears have never done that, but it seems Eberflus and Waldron are on the brink.

“I don’t come on to this show to scream for firings, it’s not my style,” Brandt added.

“But I’m also not impressed by the pride that the Bears have, and the fact they have never done it in the middle of the season before.

“No points for that – just like no points for the offense.”

The Bears host the Green Bay Packers in an NFC North rivalry game in Week 11 – but it’s not clear who will be on the sideline as they look to avoid their fourth-straight defeat.
