Kebbi gov urges electorate to support APC candidates

Ahead of the local government elections scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, August 31, 2024, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has passionately appealed to the electorate to cast their votes for all the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Gov Idris made the appeal at the end of the APC campaign rally for the local government elections in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area, on Thursday.

He expressed optimism that the APC would triumph at the polls but urged the people to come out in large numbers to vote for the APC chairmanship and councillorship candidates in all 21 council areas.

“This election is a litmus test for us, even with the popularity of our party. I call on our people and supporters to come out and vote for our party. He appealed.

Idris also admonished the candidates to serve their people diligently and honestly to achieve meaningful development, pointing out that within one year, his administration had laid a solid foundation for the state’s development.

“In one year, we have constructed roads, almost 97 per cent completed; the secretariat is at the 98 per cent completion stage, we have distributed fertiliser and assorted grains, all free of charge.”

The Governor assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be invited to commission the projects.

Gov. Idris thanked the people of the state for their unwavering support and assured them that the APC would remain a united party, as symbolised by its logo, the broom.

During the event, the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, presented several PDP stalwarts who had defected to the APC.

Among the defectors were: Hon. Isa Gwadangwaji, Jazuli Muktar, the PDP chairmanship candidate for Birnin Kebbi Local Government, and Alhaji Abubakar Nadaniya, an elder and former Chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government and a staunch member of the PDP.

Hon. Jazuli Muktar addressed the gathering, explaining that he left the PDP because he was impressed with the governor’s significant efforts to develop Kebbi State and his consistent commitment to improving the lives of the people.

Other speakers at the campaign rally included Alhaji Sani Bello, Birnin Kebbi Local Government APC Chairman; the APC Zonal Vice Chairman, Hon. Abubakar Bello Bunza; the National Organising Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu; Alhaji Abubakar Chika, Commissioner of Finance and Chairman of the Campaign Committee; and Alhaji Abubakar Gari Malam, among others.

They called on the electorate to vote for all APC candidates and commended the governor’s tireless efforts to develop Kebbi State through various developmental projects.
