Jigawa State Maternal Newborn and Child Health Accountability Forum, JIMAF, has appealed to Governor Umar Namadi to assent to the revised Jigawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency bill into Law.
JIMAF Secretary, Isah Mustapha made the call during a two-day review meeting organized by JIMAF and supported by the Lafiya UK Program.
Isah explained that the revised bill when passed into law would strengthen Primary Health Care and promote equitable distribution of human resources for health and improve service delivery.
He added that it would also enhance state commitment toward achieving universal health coverage.
He, however, commended the Jigawa State Government for allocating 12.1% of its 2024 annual budget to the health sector and approving one billion Naira for the enrollment of an additional 149,240 poor and less privileged persons across the 287 wards.
JIMAF urged the government to speed up in releasing the money for the enrollment exercise to enable the targeted beneficiaries access to the services.
The group appreciated all the development partners for supporting the state in improving health indices.
