JAMB commences direct entry application forms sales | The Guardian Nigeria News

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the commencement of the sale of Direct Entry (DE) application forms, open to both domestic and international students seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.

JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, said the registration window opens on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, and closes on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

Benjamin stated that the board will not process applications from institutions that have repeatedly declined to verify A-level certificates submitted by candidates during the 2023 admission process.

“Candidates who are not awaiting results must have uploaded their A’ level qualifications, O level results and DE registration template at the point of registration, as no DE candidate would be processed for admission until such claimed results are uploaded and verified by the awarding institutions on the Board’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) mail platform,” the statement read.

JAMB also noted that direct entry candidates, who at the point of registration are awaiting A’level results of IJMB/JUPEB/NABTEB, the board explained; must have uploaded their admission letter and registration template at the point of registration.

It also urged applicants with Cambridge certificates for the pre-2018 examination year to visit Cambridge directly for verification.

“This verification exercise may take up to 28 days (as specified by the awarding body), after which the verification result would be forwarded to the board.

“The verification would be reflected on the e-Facility profile of the DE candidate. A statement of results (in lieu of a certificate) is accepted for registration only within three years of the date of award,”

The Board also stated that it has provided a window of opportunity for candidates to upgrade from UTME to Direct Entry, with the condition that their DE results had not yet been released at the time of UTME registration and that they had indicated at the time of registration that they were awaiting A’level results.

The board said it will continue to ensure a level playing field for all candidates, irrespective of status.
