Romelu Lukaku says he is not sure if he will return to Chelsea
Romelu Lukaku comments on his future when his loan deal at AS Roma expires and claims he hasn’t decided what he will do, but Chelsea bringing the striker back is an unlikely scenario.
The Blues were desperate to sell the forward last summer but failed to find a suitable suitor after the Belgium forward ditched Inter Milan and started talks with Juventus. Subsequently, a move to the clubs failed to transpire.
This further made it difficult for the Blues to find a club for the centre-forward, but at the last moment, Roma accepted a loan move for the 30-year-old. Since joining the Serie A side, Lukaku has been in terrific form and has netted nine goals in 21 matches.
Chelsea will hopefully look to find a permanent club for the former Everton striker and have also inserted a clause in his contract, which will be interesting to see if Roma will trigger it.
However, Lukaku has opened up about his future when his loan deal at the Serie A club ends. Speaking to the media, the forward said, quoted by Fabrizio Romano:
“Back to Chelsea or staying at Roma? It makes no sense to discuss that now. I’m focused on helping Romaa win and then we will see at the end of the season.”.
It’s unlikely Chelsea will retain Lukaku.
It is quite improbable that Lukaku will rejoin Chelsea; instead, they will find him another club in the summer. He had an opportunity at Chelsea, but he didn’t perform well.

Next season, he could opt to join a Saudi Arabian or European team. It’s up to him, and ideally, a prominent European club will approach if he maintains his proficient form until the rest of the season is up.
